i have a 1600 2cyl ford diesel that sat for several years before i got it.when it runs, it has a knock that does not sound like a rod or main bearing knock. it knocks mostly on acceleration and actually sounds more like a detonation knock in a gas engine. the engine also seems to have a slight misfire and when idling, the miss seems to come and go. it also seems to blow a dark colored film all over the exhaust and hood after it has idled for a while. it smokes but i wouldn't call it blue like oil smoke. maybe more grey/black ?cold this be from really old fuel, water in the fuel,a bad injector, or????????? thanks !
