A while ago I asked about adjusting the rocker arm gaps on my 3000, saying that the number 4 valve wouldn't hold the adjustment. I got this advice:

"Here's the way to do a 3 cylinder: start with cylinder #1. Rotate the engine (by hand) until both valves for that cylinder overlap (where both are open just a tiny bit). Then turn the engine over exactly one turn and adjust both valves on number one to specs. Repeat the process for the other two. Guaranteed to work."

Does this make sense?

How do I tell when "both are open just a tiny bit?"

Does he want me to turn the engine over one turn or the flywheel one turn? As I understand it, the flywheel turns twice for each complete engine revolution.

The valves for each cylinder are right next to each other, right?

Sorry for the elementary questions, and thanks for the help.

Andy
