Hi Steve I hope you have found the bottom fo r your 977 53A The part no. is 2m0881. Cat still sells it fo about $115.00. I havent found a good used one in the u.s.a. but Ind. Parts and Eqt. in Canada 306-522-5332 has one and Montreal Tractor in Canada has one 514-457-8100
