I recently bought a D2 about the same year as yours and mine has a pony motor. However I found that the magneto had been butchered...by transforming it to a "distributor" with a condensor and coil outboard of it....since long ago it wore out its capacity to perform as a magneto. I was referred to a magneto repair person, Mark's Magneto...and he knew exactly what I needed.....they are at 860-537-0376.
