Sounds like oil pump suction problems to me. there is a strainer in the bottom of the transmission case then the oil flows through a tube on the left hand side of the transmission there are seals on this tube replace them if bad and finally the pump could be worn out. it is external and is at the top of that steal tube on left side of transmission. you say brakes stop working. brakes on this machine are not boosted by transmission oil but the steering clutches so with the steering clutch not disengaging maybe you just think brakes aren't working there are pressure taps on top of transmission under smaller round cover to check main pressure
