I am having my starter rebuilt for my cat. It has a battery box and switch on the box i think to start run the starter. I think it is a 6 volt battery that goes there. Someone told me to get a 8 volt battery that it would give me more cranking amps as it gets very cold here and i have had to start it in -40 weather. I used to use jumper cables with the truck. That is why my starter died. I want to put in the right battery and make it so that it starts right.
