HI! WG and guys, Fear I have bigger problems but mostly lack of knowledge thou reading an learning
fast as I can. Built sling perch yesterday for 8HP B&S engine. Pulled cover off left side of pump an inspected, NO Rust on back of cover or gunk detected.Drained 3-4gal.fuel off bottom of fuel tank,not too bad. Removed air swirler off top air cln.and had brother ready w/exstiguisher
Hooked AUX pony over rt.lower lift cyl.an spun up the orig.pony to apx.1800 R's.Had buddy pull
start pinion,heard the grind then a shudder and
8B&S bogged down to point off stall.Running 3"
pulley on Brigs to 6.5 to 7" pony pulley figure
2to1 reduction. Tryed again an buddy said pinion did'nt feel same/right. Pulled 2 bolt cover off
pinon assy.top was clean an rust free.Put a cap full of oil in and went again.Heres the ? Never
got the shudder or for that matter the engine to spin again yet each time pinion engaged Aux eng
would continue to spin but bog down to point of dieing. Is there a clutch in pinion? What else is spinging up thru pinion? Is the HYD.pump also spining up? I can't understand why pony keeps spining but down instead of instant stop or belt
smoke/break? Anyway decided a piston may of come up agaist cyl.rust thru an open valve an condensation..so I put some fuel 2to3 oz.down
the stack an aux motors stack to try and reach cyl. w/ open? valve/cyl.rust? Propose to put socket back on cats pony pulley an ratchet motor backwards. Is this possible? Or is pinion helical cut an kick out? Have not gained access to front C/S yet but will,if have to.I know
I'm asking alot an will hitting the books for all I can get. I DON'T WANT TO SCRAP THIS!
