Dave you have to pull everything to get to the main cover on top of differntial housing. You have on each side where your brake drums bolt to the pinion flange seperate it there.you have to pull the whole axle steering clutches break drums and bands which are around the drum. If you have never done it before get a service manual. you have to preload the crosshaft bearings. then get the ring gear set back up.
