I think it's the carb still. They are quite simple in design, but the passageways in them are quite small and can get gunked up easily with old fuel (varnish)
Go to www.acmoc.org and post the question there.Lots of folks there like me have D2's and are more knowledgeable than me. Good luck and follow back with whatever fixes it for the rest of us to see. I'm still playing with my D2.
