I have a '94 D3C(6SL series)dozer with 4700 hrs. The mounts to the C-Frame on the back of the blade keep tearing off or cracking where welded onto the blade. This has happened at the trunion mount at the bottom once and at the upper mount with the roller twice. I assume this is due to metal fatigue on the backside of the blade. We have put the upper mount on a larger base plate and it started to pull off again. Also, we replaced the sloted plate on the C-Frame that the roller rides in and it is wearing pre-maturely. Even with good welders working on it, we can’t go a week without something breaking on it. I’m considering buying a new blade or cutting off all mounts, cover the entire back of the old blade with 3/8” plate and re-welding all mounts back on. The front of the blade is looking a little thin but still serviceable. The blade is a model 6I9720.
I’d be grateful for any input from anyone with some experience or thoughts on this.
Thanks,
Jeff
