Thanks er. I'm pretty convinced it's the water pump, that would be the safe inexpensive bet without duplicating the problem. Hate to put 20 some hrs labor and a few hundred $$ in parts into a headgasket and have the complaint return in a few days.
The trans cooler on the truck does't generate enough presure to do what you described so I didn't even consider that. I'll cap off the coolant lines to the air comp today and represurize. Oil cooler, air comp and waterpump look rough- as does the whole dang truck. Customer just purchased it, hope he didn't pay too much...
