I have just overhauled my Cat's engine after losing power due to overheating.
I replaced piston rings, pistons (although old ones still look ok), gaskets, etc.
I serviced the fuel pump, injecters, radiator and changed out all the oil and filters. Engine head smoothened to avoide leakage. Valve seats were smoothened by grinding.
To my disspointment, it still overheats after overhauling. Water temperature goes up to 100 degree Celcius when working.
My mechanic reduced the timing, checked radiator and water pump, all seems to be o.k. He reckons that there's no thermostat (could be taken out by previous owner).
Compression ratio should not have been increased as the head was only smoothen and not cut.
Would appreciate if anyone can share their experiences and provide suggestions on how to reduce overheating problem.
