there are adapters that go through the head on earlier engines and the rocker box on later engines, they have screens in them. if they become plugged you will lose fuel pressure to your nozzles. when overhauling an engine I always replace them. they have given a lot of people trouble shooting problems because they don't know their screens in them.
the other answers, given to you before me are other problems that the 3204 has as well.
but before you pull the injection pump you might try these adapters.
earlier engines don't pull the housing that the transfer pump bolts into, or you will need a timing plate to re-time the injection pump.
