I have some questions related to my CAT D6B dozer, SN 44A1621. First, can anyone tell me what "model" engine this machine has? Is it a "D318", a "3306", or something else? The SN on the engine matches the number on the machine (44A1621). Second, can anyone tell me where I can find a track shop, cabable of replacing pins&bushings, in the Western New York State area? Now for your opinions: by my own (non-professional) assesment, the pins&bushings in my track chains are about 80% worn (20% life remaining). In general, is it more economical to replace the entire chain/track with a good used set, or to purchase new pins&bushings and have them installed? The links and grousers are worn, but nowhere near down to the %20 level. What would a reasonable price be for a good used track for this machine - say something with 90% wear left. Thanks.
