i found out the problem with the gear selector. previous owner used baling wire to hold lever to gear selector and it broke. i reinstalled the lever and used a cotter pin to hold it (like it was supposed to have)and no more problems from that . found the problem with the blade lifting and lowering, the bolts attaching the rod wore worn and loose not allowing the lever to move all the way.still have to fix the gunk in the tranny. now the major problem i have. the idlers appear to be frozen, and wont allow the tracks to be tightened. i was trying to move it to the barn and the left track jumped off and is out of position. it is still on the dozer ,just pushed against the bottom.how do i get it back on? can i break the track open and reinstall? if i do that ,will it be a problem to reconnect the track?the bottom of the track is on the other side of the idler and sprocket. a neighbor said he has a "track jack" for putting them back on. problem with that is ,he has to find them, and has no idea if the work or how to use them. any info will help. thanks.
