hello. i just purchased an old 17a.it has several problems that i hope someone can help me with. (1)i was going to change the filter by the seat(what component is this filter for)well it is full of a thick brown gunk,looks like water has gotten into system.(2)now the forward and reverse lever wont move,nor can i change gears,any ideas?,also the blade always goes up ,but sometimes it wont lift dozer up .(3)i topped off the radiator,but after it started up ,about a gallon of coolant blew out of the vent hole next to radiator cap. do i need to bleed the system when it is opened up? .or is it head gasket trouble?(4)just how do you pump out the tracks? is there any bolts that need to be loosened? i was able to move them some ,just by pumping in a tube on each side. but there is still plenty of room for them to move,but they stopped .i know nothing about these machines,so any info will help.i bought it to dig a pond and push debris left by loggers ,was hoping to be able to push up stumps,but so far no luck on pushing them up.i guess i will have to dig around them some.thanks and take care.
