Not into ag tractors but have looked at the online parts drawing for the 850 and see that it has a complete mechanical linkage,the yoke that pushes the trust bearing carrier is keyed on to the cross shaft,if the key was worn or sheared you could lose a fair bit of travel as a result of the shaft turning and not taking the yoke with it to push the pressure plate release,there does not seem to be much can be done from the outside apart from the adjustment and I doubt if there is a magic cure,you can get advise at the David Brown club at dbtc dot co dot uk
