Most things were positive ground up to the mid fifties,if you are using a generator and regulator charging system it does not matter what the polarity is as long as you polarize the generator for the polarity you are using,with everything connected up including the battery use a jumper wire to momentarily connect the Bat terminal with the Arm terminal on the regulator with the jumper wire for a second,if you opt to use an alternator then you need negative ground.
