I just bought a Case 580SE with 4500 hrs. The machine seems to run rough during different rpms. It does not smoke, and it idles like a kitten. At some rpm's the motor sounds perfect, at other rpm ranges, the motor is very rough. When this happens, if I either increase engine speed, or decrease engine speed, I can smooth it out. The motor seems to have plenty of power, but something is wrong. The fellow I bought the machine from told me about it, but was never able to fix it. He had the injectors replaced, the injector pump rebuilt, and the whole top end done over, but nothing helped. I replaced the fuel filters-nothing. My father suggested the cam shaft may be out of balance, or a harmonic balancer may have been thrown. I'm at a loss. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Erik
