case 310g removing master link from drive chain

I purchased a case 310g crawler,i want to remove the drive chain to install new front idler wheel bearing,The problem is the chain is quite new and doesn't come apart as decribed in the manual(taking out a lock pin and then driving it out) the only thing i can find on this one to inticate its the master link is a punch mark in one of thr link pins wich looks like it has to just be drive out with a punch,Does anyone know if this is so and the only way to get it out is to beat the pin out.Thanks Gene
