Because a starter motor rotates fast when on the bench means nothing,a shop that has the proper testing equipment can test the torque and the rpm of the motor and unless it has been tested that way it can't be said thats its alright, you are sure that it is a 12 volt unit, having said that you are sure there is no load on the engine like the lift lever stuck in or the like and is the engine free, when the engine is running and you stop it note if it freewheels a couple of turns or stops abruptly,DB engines are easy to start if the starter is ok and all the cables good, you could put a volt meter between the main battery cable and the ground cable at the starter, operate the starter and see if the voltage drops,if its ok put the + lead of the VM on to the other terminal of the solenoid, the meter will read zero, operate the starter, the voltage should read the same as it did when on the other terminal,if its lower the solenoid is not sending enough power into the motor and that can cause it to have a flat battery effect.
