Hi folks;
I have a Case 580 B, and like other people have reported, this diesel machine does not start in cold weather. It has no block heater in it currently. My question is: Has anyone tried to use heat lamps (such as used with poultry or young livestock) to heat the block, fuel lines, etc? I'm thinking about an auto battery with an inverter, hooked up to two heat lamps on either side of the engine, and let them run for 20 minutes or so. I'd have to put them at a little distance away from the engine, but it seems like it ought to work. Anybody with any feedback on this idea?
