You should go by the machine serial number, there is two models of the 580K,the early ones serial numbers started with 17, later models started with JJG,its chalk and cheese as far as the power train is concerned, entirely different setup and I don't know why the machines were not given different numbers, the early machines had a Borg Warner shuttle with a Case transaxle, the later machines have a Carraro transaxle/shuttle,go to the link below its the Case parts online site, when the page opens click on the bottem line in the middle box "Click here to begin your search" a new page opens, type in 580K in the top left box and click on search, two models of the 580K will show, the top one is the early one, click on the one you think yours is and then scroll down and click on brakes, click on differential brake and a parts drawing will appear on the right, there is a small toolbar at the top of the picture, click the right box and the parts can be viewed full screen,if your machine is the latest of the two the halfshaft housings have to come off to replace the brake discs,if your machines brakes are low you should make sure that the trouble is not in the master cylinders, sometimes the pistons in the master cylinders to not return fully and this causes the m/cylinder piston stroke to be too short,ie the amount of fluid they pump is not enough, when that is happening the pedals will go to the floor, the brakes are self adjusting and the friction plate is bronze between two steel and I have never had to replace them yet,but yours might be the other type so have a look at the parts and you can compare, visible difference levers for the front bucket coming out of the dash on the early, out of the floor later, battery on right on early on left on later, send the book back for the correct one, blame them for sending the wrong one.
