Jeff: You might try removing port relief on the boom section. This is the valve that sits right beside the spool top and bottom of each valve section. It takes an 1 1/4 inch wrench. After removing relief valve, there is a load check further down in the bore. You will need something to grab the poppet and pull it out of the bore. There is a spring and o-rings on the load check. Let me know how you make out. Make sure the boom is on the ground before you start.
