Checked all the wiring and all seems well.
Swapped out for a new resistor today and still have the problem.
Naturally the resistor was in stock and cheaper than the blower which they have to get. A new blower comes with the resistor. Listening up close to the blower it doesn't sound really healthy so I guess after 10 years it's done.
