Case 885XL 1989,
for the second time in Two years I've got it stuck in High range
I can select any of the four speeds, but can't get reverse or low range.

The last time my mechanic came out to me, he shoved a long steel bar, through from the (outside) back of the cab and wiggled it about to free something, he said I may have rushed the gear selection in use,

Is this a common problem how can I fix it myself, does something need replacing to repair it properly or would it be best left until the clutch is replaced in the future?
