There is only one 1494 tractor shown in the parts list made from 83 to 87,it is showing a glass bowl on the lift pump as all DB tractors have someone may have replaced the pump for a type without a bowl,the filter top could have been changed too as the parts list shows a bleed screw on each filter,the idea of the glass bowl was that sediment could be easily seen as it was filtered out before going through the pump,no gauze filter in the pump means dirt can go through it and shorten it's life,up to the lift pump the fuel is under vacuum,that line needs to be air tight,after the pump it is under pressure and should there be any bad joints you will have a leak,in most cases of fuel trouble it is because the fuel is restricted from leaving the tank due to sediment build up blocking the outlet.
