That would be normal and there is a reason,its to stop you leaving the seat with the lever in drive and the engine running,the specification for low idle is 850-900rpm,if your nudge pedal is working it should not be a problem,the brakes are manual hydraulic brakes with no assistance and do require a fair bit of pressure to pull up,you could check to see if the discs are glazed or have oil on them,they are self adjusting,if you think the pedals are going too low the discs could be worn,you can try tighten them up manually,tighten the adjuster nut till it just stops the wheel,then back one and a half turns,have you got a manual,if not I can give you a link to a PDF copy which I have at a host site.
