Tractors of that era had gear oil in the gearbox usually 80/90W, the problem you are having is the clutch is not releasing fully,is the adjustment correct,have you tried tightening it a bit,this is common if the tractor has not been used for some time,the instance fix for that is top gear,brakes on and slip the clutch for a few seconds,if it is still the same the clutch brake is not working,that is a brake that stops the output shaft from the clutch from turning when the clutch is released,you just have to have the manual to see what is where,see that the adjustment is not too loose,my tractor forum is a good source of information for ag tractors.
