If it's a torque converter then you are supposed to have fluid in your clutch housing. But since you say you have the 2 bolt inspection cover on the left, I'm guessing you have a clutch drive transmission. There is a seal and bearing on the backside of your release bearing carrier. They are probably worn out and allowing the fluid into your clutch housing. Also check the fluid in the transmission to make sure it's not overfilled.
