My 580B backhoe farm tractor has been loosing transmission torque for several years, initially noticeable in higher gears and when cold. Eventually it would not move when cold, but rock forward and back when the shuttle was shifted, regaining usable torque as the oil warmed (I'm in Arizona so it was never really cold). Even when warm, there was marginal torque when going up a slope. I haven't used it for some months, and now even warm I get no usable torque. In neutral enough pressure builds up that the tractor will move a foot or so when the shuttle is taken out of neutral, then the pressure drops and there's no discernible torque.
I have the service manual. Any suggestions as to where I should start? There seems to be a lot of possibilities. The nearest Case shop is 80 miles away and just taking the tractor in and giving them my first born son is something the wife is unlikely to approve of.
