I was able to remove the cable core from the drive assembly yesterday. It was just stuck really tight from all the hard black crud.I cannot find a 3/4" cap screw with 20 threads per inch any where. 3/4" with 16 threads per inch are easy to find but not 20 threads per inch.
I am not too keen on doing any welding on the drive assembly. It is a pressed in fit in the engine block.I am afraid any heat applied to the drive assembly could cause it to expand enough to crack the block.Pulling it seems to be the only option to remove it. Deewight's bolt puller idea is the only option I see, but I will have to improvise on it somehow.
