I puuled the tank, drain + rinse, there was about a dozen specks of dirt in there... I also notice that the line from the tank to the pump is just plastic tubing pressed hand tight onto a nipple on the tank -- possibly drawing air there although no seepage. The gasket on the glass bowl is not perfect -- could be leaking there too. Finally I note that one of the poppet valves in the pump is loose -- looks like somebody went at it with a screwdriver or something. I think I'll spring for a new pump, it's not as expensive as I expected.
