you can use a scraper and or wire brush to remove carbon. put rags in cylinders to keep the pieces of carbon out. I would inspect the valves to make sure they are not burnt. if everything looks good put it back together. torque bolts as per the FO-4 service manual. Dont forget to retorque after running a bit and retorque while warm.
