My '51 8N also runs for about 20 minutes then stops. It will restart, but immediately stops. When an abundance of time passes, it will start the cycle all over. I bought a coil (it takes the round one) and the coil indicates an external resister is required. The guy at the tractor shop says it is not needed on the 6-v system and I don't see such a resistor already installed on the tractor. Can I safely install the new coil without a resistor?
