1 Carb leaks gas if i don't cut gas off manually. Not always , but most of the time. Looks like it is coming from the choke shaft. Had carb over hauled but the mechanic had to re-install the same old float cause the new one in the kit I bought for him would not fit. I think the float is gas-logged & therefore is leaving open the gas intake to the carb.
2 This problem may be related to # 1 above. The tractor is not a show tractor. I use it mowing 20 acres of pasture around my house. It runs at high RPMs and will simply go from running great one second to a couple seconds of sputtering and then just quit. It will sometimes crank immediately if i open the throttle wide open and spin it for a long time. Otherwise i have to walk away from it and come back later and it fires right up as if nothing had ever happened. I have checked the electrical throughly and checked the bowl for water (none) and the filter (an aftermarket inline universal filter. Over the years it has gotton worse. But sometimes it will go all day with no problem, other days i have to stop every 5 minutes. 134 cu inch gasoline engine. 1957 jubilee. I think it is the float but hate to go back into the carb again.
