Roger-Pierre, I'm looking at some pictures I printed out from John Smiths Tractor site. There is a picture of a 9N-2N pre '44 tractor that is all grey. Then there is another picture of a '44 2N that is red. The "I" beam on the greay one looks like an "I" beam where the '44 "I" beam is more of a solid looking cast. Your SN 220421 makes it a '46 so it would have been red as I see it. Hope this helped.
