Is it wired to engage starter with the key switch? it may have a resister in the run side side of it cuting the voltage to the points
THUNMB SWITCH ON TRANS SHOULD BE USED TO CRANKS THE ENGINE. That way the saftey lockout works. You need the correct switch. just8ns will have them.
