It may be, the square coils were a weak point but they are avaiable. they do have to be used with a ballast resister that is also avaiable. could replace the wiring harness and just start over with the lot. I am going to replaace the wiring harness on my late 50 8N. To many jury rigs in it also. just8n should have everything you need. But like JIm said it was running before so should still run if you find the problem.
