I am in need of some information. I started restoring my 8N after getting soem good direction from the forum here. I have one rim that has pretty much disintegrated due to rust so I fully expected to replace. My tractor has cast iron wheel weights shaped in a ring marked Ford. They mount on the outside of the wheel. I reemoved the wheels, (those things are really heavy. I then with a lot of penetrant I was able to remove the wheel centers. At that point I noted that the rims were not like the ones I see being sold as replacements but actuall have a ridge all the way around about 1 1/4" thick that s studs stick through 3 of them go throught the wheel weight the others only through the rim. These studs of course attached to teh wheel center.
My question is this: I was planning on removing the weights and not using them but I guess if I did decide to use them I would need to searchg our a differebt rim since all the ones I see only have the 6 tabs for mounting to the disc. Is that correct? I was hoping to not have to buy 2 rims but I guess I may need to now. Also how would I gio about getting these weight off the rim. The rust is so bad I can tell if the studs would allow the weight to just be hammered off. I have some pictures at this link if anyone is inetrested in looking and giving me some advice.
