Yes, I have tried several remedies: trying to rotate the engine backwards using flywheel, but it won't budge: With the clutch depressed, I can easily turn the flywheel.

-gently prying the shifters, etc.

I can't release the pressure. Is the pressure coming from the engine? In which case, I will split it there.

I've had the rear wheels up on a tow truck and they turn easily with clutch engaged - not pressed down.
