There's a good chance that you only took out the splins on the left side hub and or axle. Same thing happened to my NAA (same rear end) last year while pulling a hung up tree. I thought sure it was the differential, but it was only the hub. You have to replace both the hub and axle though. If you want to try it yourself you will need a 3/4 inch socket set and access to a torque wrench that will go to 450 ft/lbs. and the I&T F-04 service manual. If you jack up the left side wheel and turn it with the tractor in gear or at least try you should hear that same popping sound. Mine was free wheeling. Then do the same thing on the other side and see what happens.
