I just been throught a simular situation if there is one. Found a wire connection from the power post on the resister board to the ignition switch to be working sometimes but not other times. Put on a test light or voltmeter to the ignition switch and turn it on them move the wires this way and that. See if you get a loss of power to the switch. Move the switch around too. You could buy a generic one cheap at the local auto parts store if needed. But its most likely a lose wire. Check to make sure you have juice to the coil connection when you turn on the key.
