In Reply to: Naa: Burned up 12v coil? How to test posted by Rob on Sunday, June 21, 2009:
I looked at my other post and saw that I really did not give you any help. You make a jumper to go around the switch to check that. I assume tehat you can get to the points. With them closed you can open them by hand and check for spark. they may be corooded and not making contact. if you have avoltmeter you can check for voltage at switch and both sides of the coil. On an 8n with the points open you should show battery voltage to and from coil and at one side of the points. when the points close if they are making contact the voltage will drop off to close to zero. On your 12 volt system you may have a resistor in the circuit, if it is there it may be bad. No voltage to coil could be bad switch or resistor or wiring.
Maybe some of the Naa owners on here can help you more
Good Luck
