If cleaning the cable connections do not change anything, the starter could be getting ready for a rebuild. 6 volt tractors do not crank over fast like a 12 volt does. If it is starting that is the main thing, but if it just barely turning over and the caables are clean I would think about rebuilding the starter. Also the starter has to make a good connection where it bolts on. take it off and wire brush the starter mating area till up have bright metal on starter and block. Be careful when you remove the starter that it does not come apart. as soon as you get it pulled away from housing, put a nut on one of the stdus to keep the starter together, or you will be rebuilding it anyway.
Good luck
