Sounds like the switch is bad, but before you buy a new one, try bypassing it and see if it works. It usually helps to tell us a bit more like which 8n you have. side mount distributor or front mount. Is it 6 volts or has it been converted to 12 volts. There is a big difference on trouble shooting these things depending on what you have.

Its like saying "It woun't start! Whats my problem"
