Don't forget that an 8n has three screens. One in the tank that is the top part of sediment bowl. One in the sediment bowl itself and the one in the elbow where the fuel line connects to the carb.

air (idle) adjustment is one turn open from fully closed to start with. main adjustment is one turn open from seated postion.

might also want to check the mechanical advance in the distributor. may not be working right.

A I&T FO-4 service would be a great aid for you.
