This is kind of long. I've had 8's for 22 years. Here's the problem. It started missing and finally quit. Taking off the distributor I found the points closed. They were worn out to a point you couldn't set. I bent the points just enough to gap them (stupid) It fired but the timing was off so all it did was backfire. I tried to adjust the timing (real stupid) and it didn't work. I went to my supplier and bought all the tune-up requirements, set the timing in the middle (where it's always been) and fired it up. Wouldn't start, wouldn't even come close. I've tried to adjust the timing without success. Also, it has new wires, new sparkplugs, carburator has been just rebuilt, and has spark to all plugs. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
