Barb, sorry for your loss. What Larry said was right on, except that I'm not a believer in warming up the engine before draining. If it has sat overnight or longer, all the old oil is in the pan. You just have to be patient when you remove the drain plug and let all the old oil drian out. That way you don't have to worry about burning yourself as everything is cool.
