If your wires are hot you got something wrong. You could have a froze up starter. Sometimes if you have a loose connection the wires or cables get hot. I'd take the starter out and check it out. One thing I've done in the past is get it out and then do a bench test on it. Put in in a vise and put 6 volt/or twelve depending on what it is to it. If it spins it just might be ok. If it don't the starter is froze up. That is what it sound like to me. Maybe someone else has a better idea.
